The Qween of Good Enough

So after careful consideration and permission from my fellow mom and wonderful sister in law I am following the good enough plan. The good enough plan is my idea of letting it go. I simply have not devised a plan that allows me to work 45 hours a week, clean, cook, play, eat and sleep perfectly. So I decided as long as the house is good enough, we have clean underwear and dinner 5 nights a week I am good enough! I am sorry but I don't think I am not doing my "job" or a bad mom if my house isn't perfect. If change my pile of dirty clothes into a pile of clean clothes and we eat out or have leftovers or a frozen dinner twice a week. I mean hey, I am human and I would rather focus on the things that are super important rather than stretching myself so thin everything suffers. My work, my kids, my marriage those are the most important things that deserve 100% from me.
I was fortunate enough to get 4 months paid leave when I had my Caleb. The downside I missed a lot of work. Holiday in the retail/food industry is hectic and to miss that entire period was stressful coming back. We also implemented a lot of stuff while I was gone. I had to dive right back in and make up those 4 months in 2 weeks. It was hard and required a little more of my time then I wanted to give but I had to do it. I owed it to the awesome company that I work for. The upside is I came back refreshed and energized ready to take on the world. I feel rejuvenated about work. I want to be better, learn more, and commit in a way I wasn't able to before. Having another kid has taught me that I better be doing what I love in order to leave my kids all day. It is so hard and I love them so much. I have to give my all so I know and they know what I do is important and meaningful.
My boys, including my hubby, can easily be my world, they own my heart. But again having another child is teaching me that I am important and in order for me to take care of them I need to take care of me. Part of that is enjoying my time with them. That means, letting the house go. Not like letting trash and dirty laundry take over, but not scrubbing the marks on the wall everyday, dusting once a week and scrubbing grout every other week. If I tried to get this done everyday or even every week, I would never see my boys or at least spend some quality time with them because I would be cleaning all the time. My heart would ache even more. Marriage is important and I need to remember to take care and nurture that relationship too. So date night is making a come back. Which is really nice and I can't wait for date #2.
So I give all my fellow mommies out there permission. Permission to just be good enough at the things that don't matter at the end of the day. It's ok, I promise. Look at that picture of my little c monkey sleeping chilling out on mama at the beach. I could have been home cleaning
